My son has been an avid gamer since the age of five, when someone gave him a PS2 for Christmas. At the time he couldn’t read, so I ended up playing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with him, which got us both hooked. As he grew older, he advanced his hobby to games like Minecraft and Halo. He still uses gaming as a way for he and his friends to stay in touch, while separated across the miles. These gifts for gamers are inspired by him and my youngest child, who keeps me up to date with the latest trends.
1. Experience Day
Best gifts for gamers in the UK
Whether it’s an escape room, a fast driving experience, or virtual reality, an experience will put them into a real live game and get them out of the house.
Zombie experiences will also be great for those who like Back 4 Blood or Dying Light 2. Or make them feel like they are in a real battle with a paintball experience.
2. Pac Man Arcade Game
Unique gifts for gamers
What to get for a gamer who has everything? A full size arcade game. I remember playing this as a kid. This makes a great retro gaming gift for the gamer who likes classic games. As a luxury gift, a full size arcade game will have every adult feeling like a kid again.
You can also get Street Fighter II.
The latest arcade games are available too, depending how much you are willing to spend.
3. Build a Level Minecraft Cup
Gamer Mugs
This mug comes with stickers to build your own level on the outside of the mug. This is fun for adults as well as kids. It’s a great novelty gift for Minecraft fans.
For Playstation fans, get them a Playstation mug with the logo and a handle shaped like a controller. Or get a Game boy mug that “turns on” when heated.
4. Gaming Desk
Best presents for gamers in the UK
What’s the best gift for a gamer? This gaming desk comes with a cup holder, a headphone hook, plus a large gaming mouse pad. It has plenty of room on top for screens and gaming gear, without being bulky like a traditional office desk.
To maximise additional space, you can opt for a corner gaming desk.
Since gamers tend to get absorbed into their games for hours, an ergonomic footrest will help improve posture and circulation while sitting at their desk.
5. Custom Neon Gaming Sign
Personalised gaming gifts
A custom sign will look amazing in the gamer’s room. Prices vary based on the amount of letters and size of the sign.
If you are looking for something that fits a smaller budget, you can get a personalised controller and headphone stand or a custom mouse pad instead. They will love them all.
6. Gaming Chair with Bluetooth Speakers
Great gifts for gamers UK
What does every gamer need? A chair with a footrest and back support to make them more comfortable during their gaming marathons. This one has built-in Bluetooth speakers for a more realistic gaming experience.
When my son was young, his gaming system was low to the floor and he sat on a beanbag chair to play. For those with gaming systems lower than desk height, a floor rocker with Bluetooth speaker will be a better gift.
As a novelty decoration, you can give them a controller shaped cushion for their bed or chair.
7. Chocolate Game Controller
Inexpensive gifts for gamers
The gamer with a sweet tooth will love this chocolate game controller.
For water breaks, get them a Minecraft torch bottle to keep by their side to prevent dehydration. To prevent condensation from drinks messing up their equipment, they will love these Playstation drink coasters.
8. Gaming T-shirt
Wearable gaming presents UK
This t-shirt really sums it up, doesn’t it?
You can also choose from a selection of hoodies for gamers.
If you are looking for a birthday gift, get a level up shirt. Some can be customised with age and year of birth. This is a keepsake gift for a kid. I always wanted to take all of my son’s memorable t-shirts to make a quilt to give him when he moved away. Of course time can get away from us, but if you take pictures of your gamer wearing their special shirt, you will create lasting memories, even after they outgrow the gift.
9. Screen Magnifier
Useful stuff for gamers UK
What are good gifts for gamers? My youngest child told me that screen enlargers are very popular now. They enhance images from the phone onto a larger screen for games and movies, giving images a larger, 3D quality.
Blue light glasses help protect their eyes from harmful light which causes fatigue and glare.
Many gamers now record their games and upload them to YouTube to create tutorials for other gamers. This adjustable webcam has several light settings and a noise cancelling microphone for crisper sound quality to create the best videos.
Wireless headphones with a microphone are also much requested gifts from gamers. The headphones give them that surround sound quality of being in the centre of the action, while tuning out other household noises. The microphone transmits their voice clearly to their friends playing with them online.
10. Gameboy Pint Glasses
Gifts for gamer boyfriend
Similar to the coffee mug, these pint glasses “turn on” when a beverage is added. Grab him some of his favourite beer so he can test them out.
Marvel Avenger fans will like this Thanos gauntlet bottle opener for opening their brew.
For a more romantic gift for a boyfriend, get a gamer puzzle keyring set. The key chains each have a puzzle piece that fit together, with one saying player 1 and the other, player 2.
11. Minecraft Lego
Children’s gift ideas for gamers UK
For children into video games, a Minecraft Lego will get them away from the screen for a while. Plus, you might have fun helping them put it together.
Entice everyone to a family game night with Nintendo Monopoly. It is based on the classic version, but with characters from the Mario Brothers games.
To get them outdoors, get them some Fortnite blasters. While I am not much for kids playing with guns, at least with these they are running around outside, insteading of shooting guns on a screen. Plus your Fortnite fan will be getting some exercise.
If you are trying to get them to read more, try Trapped in a Video Game, a paperback for ages 8-12 about, what else?, a boy stuck inside a video game.
12. Gaming Keyboard
Gifts for PC gamers
This keyboard is great for gamers because the keys are backlit so they can be seen in the dark. The keyboard is also spill and crumb resistant.
If they prefer, you can get them a handheld keyboard. This has a stand, so it can be placed on a desk or lapdesk, as well as being held in the hand.
Throw some universal dust cleaner in their Christmas stocking for cleaning their keyboard. It works for car vents too!
Then get a set of wireless gaming speakers for their computer for improved sound quality. They will feel like they are actually in the game.
13. 100 Video Games Scratch Off
Cool gifts for gamers
For the serious gamer, get this bucket list scratch off poster of 100 video games to play.
Fallout fans may like the Fallout cookbook, with recipes inspired by the game series. It even has recipes for Nuka Cola!
For a cool gift for the game room, LED strip lights add to the gaming aura when placed around edges of screens, desks or on walls. For more ambiance, add a game controller 3D light. These make great night lights for younger kids too.
14. Brownies in a Card
Snack gifts for gamers UK
While not just for gamers, brownies make a tasty snack to munch on while gaming. These are great for any occasion. Just select the flavour of brownies you would like, choose a card for the occasion, and personalise it.
For someone who prefers salty snacks, try a gourmet crisps hamper. Maybe they have a sweet tooth. Then give them a retro sweets hamper filled with old fashioned candies.
15. Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set
Retro gaming gifts
This game has been around since the 1970’s and is still popular today. This starter kit has all of the basics to play their first game such as dice, character sheets, and introductory rule book.
If they already play D&D, get them the Essentials Kit which has game cards and a double sided map in addition to dice, character sheets, and an adventure book. The Player’s Handbook will help build more detailed characters. The Monster Manual will help fill in details of creatures with vivid descriptions for a more immersive experience. My youngest child informed me that many of today’s video game monsters have been inspired by creatures from the D&D games.
